About Dr. Shephard
After my enlistment ended in 2003, I moved back to Evansville and married my wonderful wife, Maggie. She introduced me to dentistry through her father, who was instrumental in showing me how I could combine my love for hands-on work, science, and helping people into one profession. I decided to pursue a path towards dentistry after working with him as a part-time assistant and lab technician. While gaining hands- on experience, I returned to USI full-time to complete the needed pre-requisite classes to gain acceptance into dental school. I was accepted into Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2006, right before we welcomed our first child into the world. As my wife worked full-time in Evansville while raising our growing family, I would study throughout the week and travel home every weekend from Indianapolis to help her. These circumstances of shared commitment and responsibility strengthened us as a family and helped us shape the way we view challenges in both our personal and professional lives.
Today, my wife and I have three children and are very excited to see them grow up and experience many of the same activities that we enjoyed as kids in Evansville. In our rare downtime from work and the daily grind, we enjoy short camping trips, riding bikes, and having a good time with family and friends. My staff and I all share the belief that our patients should be treated in the same manner that we would like to be treated. If this philosophy resonates with your own values, we would love to have you as a part of our dental family!
Sincerely,
Andrew D. Shephard, DDS
I was born and raised on the north side of Evansville to a hard-working, middle-class family. My foundational values were shaped by parents that demonstrated and demanded a life led according to the “golden rule”. While simple in instruction, it is the basis for every decision that I make in my personal and professional life.
I attended Holy Redeemer elementary school, Thompkins middle school, and Central high school before graduating in 1996. While in high school, I developed a strong work ethic while competing in wrestling, working part-time jobs, and maintaining a high GPA. After attending the University of Southern Indiana for two years, I decided to “see the world” and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. My experience in the service matured my outlook on life and strengthened my resolve to pursue a demanding profession. The Air Force core values of “Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do” still influence my decisions in everyday life.
